In Lines of Vision, Williamson will introduce his most recent paintings, all of which have been completed in 2008. Todd Williamson's use of the horizontal line acts as the framework and structure of his creative expression. Williamson's use of color creates an emotional chaos that is constrained by the harmony and order driven by the horizontal lines. Marco di Mauro, the Italian art historian and critic, referred to Williamson's paintings as "having mastered the teachings of the great Paul Klee in his ability to paint pure emotion and express this on canvas." The body of this work is produced on aluminum panels that are specially constructed for the artist. The lustrous effect created by the perfect surface of the aluminum adds a depth and complexity to the already emotional works. In each work, color binds onto his linearformat like enigmatic hieroglyphics or musical notes on a score sheet whose mysteries are to be deciphered by the viewer. Transplanted from the deep South to a metropolis, Los Angeles, Williamson brings with him a passionate flair that draws from that musical, colorful heritage. Todd Williamson received a "curators choice award" from the Spectrum exhibition at the Micro Museum in New York in 2007. Williamson's paintings were selected for "The Art of Vision" at the Zimmer Childrens Museum in Los Angeles and for the 3rd Songzhuang Art Festival in Beijing China. He was also shown in 2008 at the Biennale d'Italia. He has attended the American Academy in Rome as a visiting artist, the Skopelos Foundation, Louise Bourgeois' artist salons, and the Scuolo Internationale da Grafica di Venezia. Williamson's work is collected both nationally and internationally by numerous major art collectors and foundations.</p>
